At HRT, we strive to create a work environment that feels more like a research lab than a corporate office. Occasionally, we find ourselves arguing over such issues as calculating the burn-rate of a sugar packet entering the atmoshpere or solving humanity's energy needs. But when not debating contrived problems, everyone at HRT works as part of a team, whether it's figuring out how best to manage our data center to meet our developers' research needs or brainstorming new trading ideas.
The office atmosphere has a laid-back feeling. Our belief is that if we hire highly capable people, then we don't need to micromanage them to get the job done, and everyone will have a more enjoyable work experience. And there are no politics or red tape to get in the way of implementing new ideas; on the contrary, we pride ourselves on being able to rapidly respond to changes in the market.
We try to balance productive and efficient work in the office with a good time away from work, often socializing after-hours. And every January, HRT unwinds at our anniversary party, bringing friends and business associates together under one roof for an all-night celebration in the city.
