Algorithm developers are responsible for building and maintaining the models that drive our trading. Apply rigorous statistical analysis to vast quantities of market and financial data to produce provably predictive trading models. Run models live on our high-performance trading infrastructure, and analyze their daily performance to maintain ongoing profitability. Research, develop and test novel order execution and model training methods to increase trading efficiency.

Core Developers design, develop, and maintain our trading platforms - the lifeblood of the company. Use your intimate knowledge of low-level system calls and array of C tricks to produce the fastest code on Wall Street. Write highly optimized, low-latency, critical-path software to power our trading during market hours, and develop scalable data storage and distribution systems to support our always-on statistical analysis efforts. Implement new protocols and interfaces as the company expands to new markets, and maintain and expand the set of proprietary tools that help us govern our trading operations.

The Skills:

  • Expert C++ programming skills with a thorough understanding of the language (STL, network programming necessary, but no graphics required)
  • Expertise with UNIX operating systems (we use FreeBSD), perl, shell scripting, network protocols and file systems

The Profile:

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or related field from top institutions
  • Ability to debug and analyze problems quickly and effectively
  • Ability to work independently, but still be a team player

We are looking to expand our business operations and clearing technology group, and are especially interested in detail-oriented software developers. The right candidate will have 0 - 3 years of experience (industry experience *not* required), and will have an interest in growing and developing his or her skills as a coder. The candidate should also be eager to liaise with both the business team and development team at HRT.

The junior developer will be responsible for coding up and helping to design a cool new software platform to automate HRT's post-trade system. This is a new position at HRT and will present strong, hardworking candidates with huge opportunities for growth.

Job Duties:

  • Develop software and tools to reconcile end of day totals
  • Gather requirements from clearing and accounting teams
  • Build and maintain troubleshooting tools that perform daily and month-end reconciliation tasks
  • Develop and maintain monthly accounting reports for products traded by HRT
  • Develop scripts to analyze trade records for compliance across multiple areas
  • Test and debug code releases

Technical Skills Required:

  • Experienced in UNIX or Linux environment (we use FreeBSD)
  • Internship or work experience in C++ extremely helpful
  • Very strong scripting skills: perl, sed/awk, bash scripting, excel macros
  • Strong SQL skills

Hudson River Trading LLC (HRT) is a multi-asset class quantitative trading firm based in lower Manhattan. Founded in 2002, HRT develops automated trading algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical modeling techniques and an extremely high-performance computing environment.

We are looking to hire multiple trade support developers for our operations teams as we expand into new markets. The position is critical to the company and offers excellent room for growth. There are currently openings in NYC, Singapore and London. The trade operations team supports and maintains the production trading platform. In a high performance environment, immediate awareness of and reaction to systems issues is essential. It is the job of the operations team to oversee the internal systems and all connections with external markets. Responsibilities include being in charge of morning startup and evening shutdown, responding to external market alerts and outages and interfacing with exchanges to support trading.

Technical Skills / Background:

Please note: this role will require an early start and occasional off hours to support trading.

Systems Administrators manage state-of-the-art UNIX servers and networking equipment in our datacenters. Responsibilities are broad and include hardware and software installation and configuration, automation scripting, monitoring, power distribution, performance tuning, testing new hardware, and planning. We are jacks-of-all-trades who can effectively multitask yet retain a high attention to detail that keeps our systems running as efficiently as possible. We're currently hiring for a 12pm - 8pm shift.

Specific Duties:

  • Evening / weekend change work
  • Coordinate with remote hands / colo providers
  • Roll out configuration changes to remote unix servers
  • Work with networks team to configure market connectivity
  • Install new machines and help build out new colocation facilities

Skills:

  • Knowledge of UNIX operating systems (we use FreeBSD)
  • Basic programming helpful, especially perl, shell and python
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware
  • Network configuration and troubleshooting experience
